About Klic Cars

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website which we hope will be informative, answer any questions you might have and give an insight into ourselves.

KLIC CARS was formed in 1979 by the uncle and nephew partnership of Keith and Leslie McCubbin. Even in the beginning the focus was on personal attention and the view to treat people how we would like to be treated ourselves. This is a view which has served us well over the years and even to this day customers who came to us back in 1979 remain customers today.

It has not been plain sailing over the last twenty-five years and there have been many ups and downs and four location changes in Dumfries to get to where we are today.

The company is now solely owned by Keith McCubbin after Leslie retired in the late 80’s and is still a family orientated firm with two of Keith’s sons Grant and Chris now working with their father, Grant in sales and Chris in service.

The last five years has seen some changes with the stopping of the car hire part of the business followed by the move into car sales. With a constantly busy workshop with Mot’s, repairs and growing used car sales we took the decision to move into new sales with Proton Cars.

A new modern showroom was built and in September 2003 the new cars arrived and the beginning of a new era in our history had begun. There were numerous reasons why we took on the Proton franchise, the main ones being:

  • a product that offers excellent value for money
  • unbeatable reliability
  • low service costs
  • a brand that has been in the top five of the JD Power customer satisfaction survey for the last six years, third this year only beaten by Jaguar and Lexus

The best way to judge a car is by the opinion of the people who own one so the reasons speak for themselves. Another reason was Proton’s ambition and plans for expansion over the next two years with the introduction of five all new models over that period the first of which is the new Gen 2, developed with the aid of Lotus Cars which is owned solely by Proton, so the future is very exciting indeed.
